4-H Camp for All County Youth Ages 9-13

extenstion

School is almost out which means 4-H camp is just around the corner. McCreary County youth will be attending 4-H Camp June 8-11, 2015 at J.M. Feltner 4-H Camp in London, KY. The theme for this year is 4-H Camp: Where the Wilds Things Are. Special programs offered during camp this year include the Knoxville Zoo, entomology, and a program on KY Fur Bearers.

What makes 4-H camp different?

For parents, 4-H camp is an opportunity for your child to explore, learn, and make lasting memories in a safe, adult supervised environment. Campers stay in cabins with youth from their own counties and are supervised by adults and teens from their own county in addition to trained camp staff. An onsite EMT/healthcare provider is always available to take care of campers needs. Our camps have also been awarded accreditation be the American Camp Association in recognition of our program using “best practices in the camping industry” to provide a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for our campers.

For youth, 4-H camp is a great way to enjoy an activity packed week of classes and experiences tailored to your individual interest. Climb a rock wall and zip line down; learn to swim; paddle the lake in a canoe; create crafts; catch butterflies or go fishing; participate in challenge courses and relay games; sing songs and learn new dances; learn responsibility and develop leadership skills, make new friends and, of course, have fun.

The camp offers facilities for archery, riflery, canoeing, basketball, swimming, tennis, crafts, nature trails and a low and high ropes challenge courses.  Other classes to be offered include GPS/Geocaching, fun foods, crafts, spa (making homemade beauty products),  robotics, woodworking, rocketry, and sewing.

Camp is open to all youth, ages 9-13 (grades 4th-8th). The cost this year is $125.00 per camper which covers transportation, meals, lodging, and a t-shirt. A $50.00 deposit holds your child’s spot. Our office will work with you to make a payment plan if needed. Contact the McCreary County Extension Service Office at 376-2524 for more information or to get an application.
