An unusual rescue Saturday
Members of the Whitley City Fire Department and Kentucky State Police Trooper Shaler Jones worked together on an unusual rescue Saturday afternoon on Acorn Lane.
Reports of a cow stuck in mud adjacent to a pond set in motion a heavy-animal rescue.
Rigging a complex rope/pulley system, giving the firefighters a mechanical advantage, and using a pole spreader to create a makeshift harness to extricate the animal from the quagmire.
WCFD Chief Tony Miller stated the adventure was good practice for his crew in rope work typically used for high-angle rescues.
