Candidates slowly continue to file

By Eugenia Jones

An additional candidate has filed to run against long-time incumbent U. S. Representative Hal Rogers.   On November 23, Republican Rich Van Dam of Somerset joined Rogers and Gerado Serrano in the 5th District’s House of Representatives race.

Additionally, McCreary County Circuit Court Clerk Othel King made his bid for 52nd District State Representative official by filing the formal registration of his candidacy on November 23.

In county races, Republican Wanda Lee Ridner registered to run for magistrate in District 1.  Thus far, Ridner and incumbent Bill Hale are the only two magisterial candidates in District 1.  Republican Willie Rollins and Republican incumbent Freddie Clark filed their candidacies for constable in Districts 1 and 2, respectively.

Thus far, there are nineteen candidate filings for county offices.
