The man accused of murdering 48-year-old Larissa Cox had his first court appearance last week.
Preston Timothy Clark appeared for an arraignment hearing before Judge Cathy Prewitt in McCreary County District Court Wednesday. In the brief hearing Clark entered a not guilty plea on the charge of murder and was appointed a public defender.
Clark was remanded to the Leslie County Detention Center where he remains held without bond.
A pretrial hearing has been set for Thursday morning, but it is likely the case will be sent to the Grand Jury and moved to Circuit Court.
Clark is accused of fatally shooting Cox during an argument on June 26.
The Kentucky State Police, which is conducting the investigation in to the case, has not released a suspected motive in the shooting, but confirmed that a verbal altercation had taken place prior to the shooting, but it had not become physical.
Cox was living in the residence along with her two daughters and Clark, who was dating her eldest daughter. Clark and his girlfriend had also recently celebrated the birth of a child and the entire family had just returned from a vacation the day of the incident.
