Flower Removal - Pleasant Run Church will be removing all flowers from the grounds by July 29, 2017. If you would like to keep your flowers please come pick them up.

Annual Women's Conference - Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church, Whitley City, is holding its Annual Women's Conference Saturday, July 22nd. Doors open at 8:30 and conference begins at 9:00. Conference topic is "Armor of God". We have four speakers scheduled, group activities, and beautiful music to hear. No Fee. Luncheon provided. Nursery will be open.

Benefit Singing - Upper Cal Hill Cemetery Benefit Singing 4:30 PM - 8:30 PM August 5, 2017 at the McCreary County Senior Center, Whitley City. Fascinating Snakes of the Big South Fork, - Earn points towards your 2017 GO BIG patch and join us on July 29 to learn about the different types of snakes you may find in the Big South Fork. Enjoy an evening outdoors with guest speaker, Park Ranger Raymond Little, for an introduction to the identification of the common snakes in the Big South Fork area and why they are important. This fun, fact-filled evening activity begins promptly at 7 p.m. (ET) on Saturday, July 29, at the Blue Heron Campground.

Writer's workshop - On august 12, McCreary Mountain Craft association will host its 2nd annual writer's workshop at the craft center. Join author Sam D. Perry in the rustic log cabin on Highway 90 and learn how you, too, can turn your thoughts and ideas into publishable prose. Seating is limited and a nominal fee is required to cover expenses. Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) blood drive: At Appalachian Family Care. Mon., July 24 from 2 - 6 pm on the KBC Bloodmobile at 55 Cal Hill Spur in Pine Knot. All donors will receive a $10 Gift Card! Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments can be made by calling 800-775-2522, ext. 3758. Blood donors must be 17-years-old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health. Donors must also show a photo I.D. with first and last name, like a state-issued driver's license. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.

Blue Heron Campground Ranger Program: Animals of the Big South Fork - Earn points towards your 2017 GO Big patch by joining a park ranger at the Blue Heron Campground on July 22 at 7 p.m. and learn about wildlife diversity in the park. Blue Heron Campground. The Blue Heron Campground is located in the Kentucky portion of Big South Fork, nine miles west of Stearns off of Highway 742. This program is free of charge, handicap accessible and all are welcome.

GO BIG 2017 Healthy Hike: Dick Gap Overlook, July 26 - Earn points towards your 2017 GO Big patch by joining a park ranger Wednesday, July 26, on a moderate 3.2 round-trip hike up to Dick Gap overlook. Meet at the Blue Heron Interpretive Center’s train depot at the end of Kentucky Route 742. This 3.0 hour out-and-back hike will take visitors along an old tram railroad bed through coal mining sites and over interesting land formations before heading back to Blue Heron. Answer questions in your GO Big booklet and enjoy one of the more remote trails in the park on Wednesday, July 26, at 2:30 p.m. (ET). Please wear weather appropriate clothing and bring water and snacks. Hikers are encouraged to bring well-behaved dogs; however, leashes are required and there is a set of steep steps. Extension Office Events Fair exhibits July 26th, 11am: Small appliance workshop at the McCreary Co Extension Office offered by Kelli Bonnifer, Adair Co FCS Agent.

The McCreary Mountain Craft Center 3rd annual Christmas in July. The Craft Center is all decked out with Christmas decorations at both the Center and the Cabin. In the Cabin we now have a Christmas area ready for your Christmas needs. Christmas in July is going on all month with the main event being Saturday July 22 from 10:00-5:00 with craft demonstrations, music, refreshments and more. Stop in and visit with us. The Mountain Craft Center is located at 6930 Hwy 90 Parkers Lake Ky, 5 miles west of Cumberland Falls.

The McCreary County Farmers’ Market is looking for farmers and crafters. Applications may be picked up at the Judge Executive’s Office or the McCreary County Extension Office.

Meeting - The McCreary County ATV OHC Club has moved to the Old Food Stamp Office next to the VFW. Meetings are the the first Monday of each month at 7:00 PM.
