Christianfest ‘17  - LCGMA presents Christianfest ‘17 April 29, 2017 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM at Sandhill RV & Camping Park. Free Fellowship, Live Gospel Music & Vendors

The 17th annual Spring Planting and Music Festival, will happen on April 29.  The festival celebrates the coming of spring and the Appalachian way of life that has been such an important part of the history of the Big South Fork area.  With the wide array of events that we are offering we hope to have something to appeal to everyone.

The third annual National Day of Prayer will be held at the Lord’s Gym on May 4 at 6 p.m. Featuring special singers and guests. Featuring Jason Kates and Harmon Taylor.

The McCreary County Farmers’ Market is looking for farmers and crafters. Applications may be picked up at the Judge Executive’s Office or the McCreary County Extension Office.

Spring Crafting Workshop April 21, 2107 at 11:00 AM at the Eagle Caps Center hosted by the McCreary County Community Ed./VIPS Program and the school system. Donna Ridener from the county extension office will speak about upcoming and Summer events. We’ll provide refreshments and spring craft materials.

Big South Fork Carnival - Signature HealthCare of McCreary would like to announce that we are having a Spring Break Day at our facility on April 21st starting at 3:00p.m for the entire community. We will have Live Music, a bouncy house, a Clown show, Dog show, carnival games for all ages, and many more fun activities from 3p.m. to 8 p.m. We will also be selling food. To enter your dog in our Dog Show there will be a $5 charge, and you must bring shot records with you. Get ready to have a fun filled day with us! All proceeds will go for our Elders’ activities and trips.

The Neighborhood Watch of McCreary County is collecting items for a yard sale to raise funds for equipment and signs. If anyone has anything to donate please call Elsie at (606) 516-9402.

Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program  - McCreary Community Housing Development, formerly MCCHDO, in partnership with Southern Tier Housing, Corp is now taking applications for the Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program. This program is available to all qualified adults. Call (606) 354-4944 Tues. - Thurs. 10 AM - 2 PM for more info. Leave name and number if no one is available.

SUMMER KICK -OFF CELEBRATION - at the McCreary County Park Shelter May 27th 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM (Weather Permitting) join us for a community event to celebrate all the new things your local park has to offer. There will be free food, face painting, and much more. Forcht Bank is also going to bring their free ice cream truck.  Donations appreciated from local businesses, groups, clubs, organizations, and individuals. Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program  - The National Park Service will be hosting a Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program (RTCA) information session on Wednesday, May 10, at the McCreary County Library, starting at 5 p.m. (ET), at 6 Main Street, Whitley City, Kentucky.  The meeting is open to all interested persons.  The purpose of the meeting is to introduce the RTCA program to the communities surrounding Big South Fork and to discuss how the program may be helpful to ongoing tourism-related planning in the area.

Meeting  - The McCreary County ATV OHC Club has moved to the Old Food Stamp Office next to the VFW. Meetings are the the first Monday of each month at 7:00 PM.
