It is almost time for the 2018 political season to begin as potential candidates prepare to declare for office in the coming weeks.

The official start of the season begins on Wednesday, November 8, as that is the first day candidates can register to run for office in the 2018 elections with the County Clerk.

McCreary County will likely see more than 20 races to be decided next year, with every County office up for grabs in the Primary and General Election.

McCreary Countians will have more than 17 races to vote on, as every County government position will be on the ballot, as well as two school board seats in the fall.

Local races in the Primary will include: Judge Executive, all four Magistrates, Sheriff, County Attorney, Jailer, County Clerk, Court Clerk, PVA, and all four Constable districts.

Additional races expected to be on the ballot will be State Senator, State Representative and Kentucky Supreme Court.
