Events lead to the arrest of Texas man

A string of events led to the arrest of a Texas man Monday, May 9, 2022, reported McCreary Sheriff Randy Waters. The incident leading to the arrest started at the Dollar General store in Parkers Lake. An employee of the store called 911 to report a male subject squealing tires in the parking lot and yelling a woman’s name. The man left the Dollar General then returned a short time later to the store and appeared to shoplift something. He left the store and drove north on U.S. Hwy 27 almost hitting Deputy Charles Perry’s vehicle head on.

Deputy Perry called for assistance and Fish and Wildlife Officer Joey Braden responded. Henry Floyd Trammell of Newton, Texas was arrested and taken to the Sheriff’s Office where he was charged with Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, No other state registration receipt, Failure of owner to maintain required insurance, 1st offense, and Careless driving. Trammell was transported to the Knox County Detention Center. 

On Tuesday, a security camera photo was sent to Sheriff’s Deputy Stuart Bryant by a property owner whose building in Parkers Lake had been broken into and asking if Deputy Bryant could identify the man in the picture. The security camera photo showed a man holding a shotgun inside the property owner’s building. Deputy Bryant circulated the photo among the Sheriff’s deputies and local police officers. Trammell, who had been arrested the previous day, was identified as the man in the photo. Sheriff Waters obtained two warrants of arrest for Trammell which were served just before Trammell was to be released from Knox County Detention Center.

The warrants charged Henry Trammell with Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disp Shoplifting and Burglary, 1st Degree. Trammell remains in the Knox County Detention Center.
