Former MCHS Coach indicted

Toby Curry, who served three seasons as Head Coach of the Lady Raiders’ softball and basketball teams at McCreary Central High School was formally indicted by the McCreary County Grand Jury this month for allegedly communicating with a minor with the intended purpose of engaging in sexual activity.

Curry was charged with one count of Unlawful Use of Electronic Means Originating or Received within the Commonwealth to Induce a Minor to Engage in Sexual or other Prohibited Activities.

The case, presented by Kentucky State Police Detective Billy Correll, alleges Curry used his cell phone to communicate with a minor under the age of 18 on or about October 21, 2014, with the intention of engaging in sexual acts with the victim.

If convicted, the offense is considered a Class D Felony and could carry a prison sentence of one to five years, and possibly a fine of up to $10,000.

Curry left McCreary Central in July of last year to take a job in Adair County, where he is currently listed as Junior Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at Adair County high School.

It should be noted the alleged incident took place after Curry left MCHS.

The Grand Jury returned an additional 16 indictments this month: mainly dealing with drug-related charges.

Several of the cases were presented by Agent Robbie Clark of the Lake Cumberland Area Drug Task Force as a result of undercover investigations.

Shawn Watson, of Whitley City, was charged with three counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance First Degree, Second Offense, for allegedly selling methamphetamine and Percocet to a confidential informant over a three-day period last May.

He was also charged with being a Persistent Felony Offender after a 2009 conviction of Receiving Stolen Property.

Adam Meadows, of Stearns, was charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance First Degree for allegedly selling four Oxycodone Tablets to a confidential informant last June.
Meadows was also charged with being a Persistent Felony Offender for a 2008 convictions of Theft by Unlawful Taking/ firearm and Burglary 2nd degree.

Anna Brooks, of Parkers Lake, was indicted on two counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance First Degree for reportedly selling six tablets of Oxycodone to a confidential informant over two days last March.

Roscoe Garland Jr., of Revelo, was indicted on two counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance Second Degree, for allegedly selling four Oxycodone and three Subutex to a confidential informant over two days last June.

Joseph Jones, of Whitley City, was charged with two counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance First Degree for reportedly selling eight Oxycodone tablets to a confidential informant over two days last July.

He was also charged with being a Persistent Felony Offender following previous convictions of Operating a Motor Vehicle under the Influence in 2005 and 2007.

Chasity Atwell was indicted on one count of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance First Degree, First offense for allegedly selling two Oxycodone to a confidential informant on April 4, 2013.

Michael Soard, of Stearns, was charged with two counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance Second Degree, First Offense, for reportedly selling 18 Hydrocodone to a confidential informant over two days in April and July 2013.

Noble Cooper, of Stearns, was charged with two counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance First Degree, Second Offense for allegedly selling 10 Oxycodone tablets to a confidential informant in April and July of 2013.

Sandra Kidd, of Pine Knot, was charged with one count of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance First Degree, First offense for reportedly selling one Oxycodone to a confidential informant on April 23, 2014.

Kidd was also charged with being a Persistent Felony Offender following a previous conviction in U.S. District Court in 2009.

Billy Gene Correll, Jr., of Monticello, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, First Degree, First Offense and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, First Offense for allegedly possessing two Hydrocodone tablets and rolling papers on May 6 and 7, 2014.

Shawn A. Meadows, of Whitley City, was charged with Cultivating Marijuana More than five plants and Possession of Marijuana Under 8 ounces for reportedly knowingly planting more than five marijuana plants and possessing marijuana on May 17, 2014.

William James Patton, of Pine Knot, was indicted on one count of Bail Jumping First Degree for reportedly failing to appear for a court date on felony charges.
Patton was also indicted for being a Persistent Felony Offender First Degree after previous convictions of Receiving Stolen Property and Arson 3rd Degree in 2008 and 2009.

Justin Bowles, of Pine Knot, was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Prescription, First Offense, for allegedly possessing a prescription that had been altered in August 2014 and January 2015.

Milisa Ingoglia was charged with Criminal Mischief First Degree and Theft by Unlawful Taking of $500 or more for reportedly knowingly damaging property owned by Eugene Ingoglia and taking personal items.

Melvin Andrew Tucker, of Whitley City, was charged with two counts of Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition of Property over $500 for allegedly accepting two checks, totaling $6,500 to construct a driveway and using the money for his own benefit in October and November of 2012.

Casey Mounce, of Pine Knot, was charged with Flagrant Non Support for allegedly failing to make court ordered child support payments to her three children for not less than six consecutive months.

The Voice would like to remind our readers that an indictment is not an indication of one’s guilt or innocence, but represents that enough evidence exists in a case to pursue the matter in a court of law.
