Grand Jury indicts 21

The McCreary County Grand Jury had a busy session this month, issuing 20 indictments against 21 different individuals in August.

One case heard by the Grand Jury resulted in no charges being pressed against an individual.

Larry Meadows, who was accused of beating a dog to death last June, was not indicted on related charges as the Grand Jury returned a “no true bill” on the case when presented before them, meaning they apparently felt there was not enough evidence to bring the case to a full trial before a jury or there was not reasonable cause to believe the accused committed the crime.

The Voice would like to remind our readers that an indictment is not an indication of one’s guilt or innocence, but represents that enough evidence exists in a case to pursue the matter in a court of law.
