Grand Jury indicts four

By: Greg Bird

The McCreary County Grand Jury returned three indictments against four individuals in theft-related cases in a light docket this month

Rhonda K. King, of Stearns, was indicted on a charge of Obtaining a Controlled Substance by Fraud and/or Misrepresentation by allegedly picking up a Hydrocodone prescription for another individual and signing the other individual’s name without permission.

Oscar D. Martin, also known as Rocky Martin, of Pine Knot was charged with Burglary Second Degree and Criminal Mischief First Degree for reportedly unlawfully entering a residence with the intent of committing a crime and intentionally doing damage in excess of $1,000 in the process.

Martin was also charged with being a Persistent Felony Offender after previous convictions of Retaliating Against Participant in Legal Process in 2013, Receiving Stolen Property in 2013, Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun in 2012 and Theft by Unlawful Taking and Burglary in 2009.

Crystal Bryant and Felicia Johnson were indicted on a charge of Burglary First Degree for allegedly unlawfully entering a residence on July 20 with the intent to commit a crime, and in the process caused physical injury to the residents of the home.

Bryant and Johnson were each charged with Assault Fourth Degree for striking the residents in the act.

The Voice would like to remind our readers that an indictment is not an indication of one’s guilt or innocence, but represents that enough evidence exists in a case to pursue the matter in a court of law.
