Hay, Hay, Hay

Photos by Eugenia Jones

The “Hay Day” event at Kelly Tucker’s place in Jones Hollow was once again a success. Bringing equipment, horses, and mules, folks descended upon the hollow to cut a huge field of hay using traditional equipment pulled by mules and horses. While hay cutting was in progress, the women busied themselves preparing a delicious dinner on the grounds. Heaping their plates full, everyone enjoyed the midday meal which offered every type of food imaginable-including chicken-n-dumplings, cornbread, fried potatoes, casseroles, and desserts. Hay Day is an annual event with everyone invited to attend the community’s celebratory tradition.
