KSP investigate shooting

An altercation between neighbors that resulted in a shooting incident is being investigated by the Kentucky State Police, London Post. The Kentucky State Police released the following statement after the incident.

“The Kentucky State Police, London Post is investigating a shooting incident that took place on Claude Bryant Road in McCreary County on October 7, 2021 at approximately 8:43 PM.

 The preliminary investigation reveals that McCreary County Sheriff’s Department was notified of an altercation involving Phillip T. Dobbs, 28 years old, of Whitley City, Ky. and Darrell E. Threet, 33 years old, of Whitley City.  During the investigation, it was determined Darrell Threet shot Mr. Dobbs while they were in an altercation. Mr. Dobbs was taken by McCreary County EMS to Lake Cumberland Hospital in Pulaski County. Then transported by Air Evac to University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital where he remains in stable condition.

The investigation is continuing and will be presented to the McCreary County Grand Jury.

The investigation is continuing by Post 11 Detective Eric Moore . He was assisted at the scene by Post 11 personnel, McCreary County Sherriff’s Office, McCreary County EMS, Air Evac.”

After the shooting incident, Threet drove to the E911 center to await police. Earlier in the year Threet was involved in a stabbing incident and that case was presented to the Grand Jury on September 13, 2021 with the Grand Jury asking for further investigation into the case.
