STEARNS - McCreary Central suffered its second straight loss on Thursday as visiting North Laurel pulled away to win 67-42 in an early-season girls' high school basketball game.
With the loss, McCreary Central stumbled to 2-5.
North Laurel improved to 4-2 with the win.
North Laurel shot 53.3 percent (8-of-15) from 3-point range. The Lady Jaguars shot 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from the free throw line.
Dominating inside, North Laurel outrebounded McCreary Central 39-28.
Hannah Lawson, who was named to the WYMT Mountain Classic All-Tournament earlier in the month, led North Laurel with a game-high 34 points and 11 rebounds. Lawson was the only Lady Jaguar to reach double figures in the scoring column.
Aiding the North Laurel offensive attack, Gracie Jervis scored eight points while Madison Sheppard and Emily Sizemore added seven points apiece for the Lady Jaguars.
North Laurel notched its fourth straight win after opening the season 0-2.
McCreary Central shot 30 percent (15-of-50) from the field. The Lady Raiders were 7-of-30 from 3-point range.
McCreary Central shot 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from the free throw line.
Allyson Anderson led the Lady Raiders with a near-double-double, scoring 15 points and pulling down nine rebounds.
Elizabeth Anderson also reached double figures in the McCreary Central scoring column, posting 10 points and pulling down seven rebounds.
Only five McCreary Central players broke into the scoring column as Julia King chipped in eight points, Lauryn Phillips netted six points and Celya Kiser contributed three points.
The McCreary Central and North Laurel girls' basketball teams aren't scheduled to meet again this season.
