Lady Raiders on a hot streak

With three consecutive wins, and four in their past five games, the Lady Raiders are riding a surge of momentum as they enter the final week of the regular season.

After earning their first win of the season last week, the Lady Raiders dropped their next match against Wayne County, but followed up with a huge 3-game offensive outburst.

On Wednesday McCreary pounded Whitley County for a 20-5 win. The Lady Raiders scored 10 runs in the first inning and never looked back as the team combined for 9 hits in the contest.

Taylor Sumner finished the night with “deuces” across the board: 2-2 batting, with 2 runs scored, 2 driven in, 2 walks and a pair of doubles.

On Friday the team continued their onslaught with a 19-1 win over Lynn Camp. Sumner and Macey Welchel hit back-to-back homers for the team in the fourth to highlight the scoring. The team combined for 17 hits, with Welchel and Emily Simpson each getting four hits. Cammi Gilreath led the team in RBI’s with 4.

On Tuesday the Lady Raiders added to the streak with a 11-1 win over Casey County to improve to 4-14 on the season.

McCreary plays this evening at Corbin, and will participate in the Somerset/Pulaski County Showcase tournament this weekend. They wrap up the final week with games at Clay County on Monday, East Jessamine on Tuesday and Knox County on Thursday. Wednesday afternoon they will host Lynn Camp, and will celebrate Senior Night.
