MONTICELLO – The McCreary Central High School wrestling team competed at Wayne County on Saturday. In the 220 pound weight class, McCreary Central wrestler Nathan Prosser defeated the fifth-ranked grappler in the state and finished 5-1.

Another McCreary Central wrestler, Ruben Martinez, who is currently ranked number 10, managed to knock off the number nine-ranked grappler in the state in an outstanding performance and a 19-7 win.

The Raiders continue to excel on the mats, showing improvement in every match.

McCreary Central competed against several stellar teams, including host Wayne County, Madison Central, Danville, Anderson County and Livingston Academy (Tenn.)

“We were unable to capture a victory as we are young and still have some holes in our lineup,” said McCreary Central Coach Gary Parriman. “Two kids were very impressive over the weekend and that’s Nathan Prosser and Ruben Martinez. The team looked great for such a young group. We just wrestled some very experienced teams. I feel good about these kids. They work so hard and they are learning more every time we get to wrestle.”
