McCreary Central finishes second in Southern Harrier Classic

The McCreary Central boys’ cross country varsity and junior varsity teams finished second in the Southwestern-hosted Southern Harrier Classic at GE Field on Saturday.

Pulaski County won the Southern Harrier Classic. Second-place McCreary Central managed to finish ahead of Russell County, Somerset and Lincoln County.

Individually, Pulaski County standout Elias Smith won the Southern Harrier Classic in 19:02.72.

Jordan Tucker and Aiden Tucker led the Varsity Raiders, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. McCreary Central featured three runners in the Top 10 as Ethan New placed ninth.

Individual results for McCreary Central Varsity were as follows: 4. Jordan Tucker, 19:59.17; 5. Aiden Tucker, 20:08.74; 9. Ethan New, 20:48.47; 17. Tyler Strunk, 21:30.13; 21. Harley Waters, 22:28.40; 23. Chrostopher Gearing, 22:45.98; 39. Zach Gibson, 25:33.33.

Individual results for McCreary Central boys’ junior varsity team were as follows: 10. Justus Whitehead, 25:05.38; 11. Austin Corder, 25:26.75; 13. Bryson Perry, 27:02.75; 14. Peyton Ross, 27:46.50; 16. Alex Bryant, 29:36.34; 18. Dillon Vanover, 30:24.52; 21. Ryan Taylor, 35:00.53; 22. Dylan Brumley, 36:42.29.

Team results from the Southern Harrier Classic were as follows: 1. Pulaski County, 25; 2. McCreary Central, 49; 3. Russell County, 91; 4. Somerset, 99; 5. Southwestern, 118; 6. Lincoln County, 146.

On the girls’ side, McCreary Central’s Destiny King finished third overall in 29:23.41.

McCreary Central is scheduled to compete in the Wayne County Invitational in Monticello on Saturday, Sept. 23.
