Raiders outlast Clinton

ALBANY – It didn’t take McCreary Central long to even its record in the young 2017 high school volleyball season.

The Raiders managed to outlast homestanding Clinton County 2-1 (11-25, 25-19, 28-26) in an early-season high school volleyball match on Tuesday.

With the win, McCreary Central evened its record to 1-1.

Clinton County started its season 0-1 with the loss.

The Wade Davis-coached Raiders executed well both offensively and defensively during the match versus Clinton County. Determined McCreary Central managed to hold off a late threat from Clinton County, edging the Bulldogs 28-26 in the decisive game.

McCreary Central is scheduled to host Clinton County for a return match on Sept. 26. However, before then, the Raiders will meet Clinton County in the McCreary Central Invitational on Saturday.

McCreary Central is due to visit Bell County at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
The Raiders have additional regular-season matches remaining versus Estill County, Lynn Camp, Southwestern, Madison Southern, Cumberland County, Russell County, East Jessamine, Lincoln County, Williamsburg, Wayne County and Barbourville.

McCreary Central has returned to the court looking to contend for a 48th District championship. The Raiders will compete in the 48th District Volleyball Tournament in mid-October.
