Raiders to visit Jackson County for district matchup

McCreary Central will look to claim a Class 3A, District 8 football win on the road in Jackson County on Friday, Oct. 13.

Through seven games, McCreary Central is 2-5 overall and 0-2 in Class 3A, District 8. The Raiders, who are under the direction of head coach Lucas Ford, notched back-to-back wins over Fort Knox and Paul Laurence Dunbar earlier in the season. McCreary Central has dropped games to Perry County Central, South Laurel, Bell County, Corbin and Casey County.

Along with Jackson County, McCreary Central has an additional regular-season game remaining versus Lynn Camp.

Jackson County is 1-7. The Generals have dropped six straight games after blanking Berea 38-0 in a season opener.

Jackson County has suffered losses to Pineville, Lynn Camp, Phelps, Bracken County, Casey County and Corbin.
The Generals have other regular-season games remaining versus Bell County and Clinton County,
Quarterback Isiah Baker leads the way for Jackson County. Baker has completed 37-of-90 passes for 686 yards and five touchdowns. Baker has thrown nine interceptions, though.

In addition to his passing efforts, Baker has rushed 35 times for 119 yard and a team-high three touchdowns.
Tommy Thompson leads the Generals in receiving. Thompson has hauled in eight receptions for 229 yards and two touchdowns.

As a team, Jackson County has rushed for 901 yards. Dylan Martin ranks as the Generals’ leading rusher. Martin has rushed 88 times for 404 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, Jeff Isaacs leads Jackson County with a team-high 67 tackles.

The Generals are under the direction of head coach Clay Dalton.

McCreary Central and Jackson County did not meet during the 2016 season.

Kickoff for the McCreary Central-Jackson County football game is set for 7:30 p.m. in McKee.
