Raiders to visit Lynn Camp for season finale

STEARNS – McCreary Central will look to end its 2017 season with a win on the road at Lynn Camp on Friday night. The Raiders and Wildcats are set to meet in a non-district high school football game.

McCreary Central is 2-6 overall and 0-4 in Class 3A, District 8. The Raiders have claimed wins over Fort Knox and Paul Laurence Dunbar while dropping games to Perry County Central, South Laurel, Bell County, Corbin, Casey County and Jackson County. Visiting Jackson County defeated the Raiders 26-12 on Oct. 13. McCreary Central was open the week of Friday, Oct. 20.

Through eight games, McCreary Central has been outscored 391-234.

Lynn Camp is 6-3 overall overall and 2-1 in Class 1A, District 7. The Wildcats have posted wins over Jackson County, Jenkins, Jellico (Tenn.), Clinton County, Pineville and Harlan while dropping games to Knott County Central, first-year high school football program Floyd Central and Williamsburg. Host Williamsburg pulled away to defeat Lynn Camp 40-32 in a non-district high school football game on Oct. 20.

Lynn Camp features a potent offense. Through nine games, Lynn Camp has outscored opponents 314-171.

As a team, Lynn Camp has rushed for 2,651 yards. The Wildcats have passed for 438 yards.

Dalton Cook leads the Wildcats offensively and defensively. In eight games, Cook has rushed 107 times for 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Benton Medlin ranks as Lynn Camp’s second-leading rusher. Medlin has rushed 116 times for 773 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Wildcats.

Currently, Tracy Fee is third in rushing for the Wildcats. Fee has rushed 47 times for 316 yards and one touchdown.
Through the air, Lynn Camp quarterback Eric Mitchell has completed 32-of-68 passes for 373 yards and seven touchdowns with two interceptions. Mitchell has rushed 54 times for 271 yards and six touchdowns.

Cook leads Lynn Camp in receiving with nine receptions for 140 yards and three touchdowns.

Defensively, Cook has registered a team-high 56 tackles for the Wildcats.

Lynn Camp is slated to host Phelps in the opening round of the Class 1A State Playoffs on Nov. 23.

Kickoff for the McCreary Central-Lynn Camp football game is set for 7:30 p.m.
