Rape suspect indicted

The McCreary County Grand Jury returned indictments against 10 individuals, including a Stearns man accused of holding a woman against her will and forcing her to have sex with him last November.

Delford L. Smith, 45, of Stearns was charged after Deputy Odell Smith responded to a residence on West Highway 92 around 11:00 p.m. on November 30.

According to the arrest report Smith reportedly used physical force to hold the female victim against her will and forcing her to have sex with him. The victim was able to get away from her attacker and went to a neighbor’s house to call for help.

Deputy Smith states the victim was transported to the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment for her injuries.

Smith, who reportedly has a history of domestic violence allegations, was indicted on one count of Rape first Degree, Sodomy First Degree, Assault Fourth Degree and Unlawful Imprisonment First Degree.

Jimmy Watson, of Revelo, was indicted on one count each of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance First Degree, Fleeing or Evading Police in the Second Degree, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Mischief, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana.

According to the indictment Watson was stopped by KSP Trooper Desmond Brittle and was found to have over 2 grams of methamphetamine, a quantity of marijuana and items commonly used for the ingestion of controlled substances. He also allegedly attempted to prevent Trooper Brittle in making the arrest and disobeying orders to stop running.

Reggie Dawson, of Strunk, was charged with Receiving Stolen Property of a Value of $500 or more for reportedly unlawfully receiving and possessing a 1998 Jeep Cherokee, which had been stolen.

Jeffery Taylor, of Whitley City, was indicted on one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance for allegedly knowingly and unlawfully having in his possession a quantity of Oxycodone and Hydrocodone.

Christina Bowman, of Stearns, was indicted on three counts of Flagrant non-Support for allegedly failing to make court ordered child support payments for three children for no less than six months for an arrearage of more than $1,000 each.

Jerry Lay, of Pine Knot, was indicted on one count of Flagrant non-Support for allegedly failing to make court ordered child support payments for no less than six months for an arrearage of more than $1,000.

Calvin Clark, of Stearns, was indicted on one count of Flagrant non-Support for allegedly failing to make court ordered child support payments for two children for no less than six months for an arrearage of more than $1,000.

Jennifer Swain, of Whitley City, was indicted on one count of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance for allegedly having a quantity of Oxycodone for the purpose of sale on October 22, 2015.

Barbara Combs, of Pine Knot, was indicted on five counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument for reportedly possession a total of five stolen checks between October 30 and November 23.

Allen Sexton, of Oneida, was indicted on one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance for reportedly being found with a quantity of methamphetamine on December 20, 2014.
