Rockslide

photo

The recent winter weather has done more than blanket the roads with snow and ice, it has also covered one road with rocks.
Monday morning a significant rockslide on KY 1363 forced the closure of the route as debris covered both lanes of traffic and took out a power line running along the south side of the road.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 8 Crews shut down the roadway from Yamacraw Bridge to the intersection of 1363 and Rattlesnake Ridge.
With several large boulders coming dislodged from the hillside and falling to the road, highway crews have enlisted the aid of contractors to move the large rocks before the roadway can be inspected and repaired. As of press time it is still unclear how long the road will be closed.
For more information on the progress of repairs to the road, please visit http://511.gov or the District 8 Facebook page at facebook.com/KYTCDistrict8.
