Two Voting Centers for Election

McCreary County Clerk Eric Haynes announced there will be two voting centers in McCreary County on November 3, 2020. The McCreary Board of Elections met Tuesday, September 15th and selected the two largest precincts that are centrally located to serve as the Voting Centers for the upcoming General Election. The Whitley City Fire Department and Pine Knot Elementary, building 2, were selected as the Voting Centers for the county and were approved by the State Board of Elections.
Both Voting Centers will have the capability of handling voters from all precincts, no matter what precinct people normally vote in. To cast a ballot voters will be able to vote at either Voting Center and must have proof of I.D. The Voting Centers will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Early voting at the Courthouse will begin on October 13, 2020 during business hours Monday through Friday. Early voting will also be available at the Courthouse on three Saturdays, October 17, 24 and 31st, from 8 a.m. till Noon.
The last day to request an absentee ballot is October 9, 2020. Voters can call the County Clerk’s office at 606-376-2411 or go on line to the Kentucky State Board of Elections web site to request an absentee ballot. Voters are also encouraged to go on line and check their registration or call the Clerk’s Office.
The McCreary Board of Elections will meet October 6, 2020 at 9 a.m. to inspect the voting machines located at the 911 Center. The Board of Elections members are County Clerk Eric Haynes, McCreary County Sheriff Randy Waters, Elizabeth Ridener and Shane Gilreath.
