Visiting Lady Raiders nearly knock off Lexington Christian

LEXINGTON – The McCreary Central Lady Raiders nearly knocked off host Lexington Christian for their third straight win earlier in the week. However, host Lexington Christian managed to hold on to defeat the Lady Raiders 47-46 on Monday night.
With the loss, McCreary Central dropped to 9-17.
Lexington Christian improved to 9-15 with the win.
Determined Lexington Christian shot 36.2 percent (17-of-47) from the field. The Lady Eagles were 1-of-7 from 3-point range.
Lexington Christian shot 52.2 percent (12-of-23) from the free throw line.
Dominating inside, Lexington Christian outrebounded McCreary Central 48-20.
Lexington Christian used a diverse offensive attack to fend off visiting McCreary Central. Three Lexington Christian players reached double figures in the scoring column.
Gracie Royalty led Lexington Christian with a double-double, scoring 14 points and pulling down 13 rebounds.
Bethany Selby registered 12 points while Emilie Teall tossed in 11 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Eagles. Royalty and Teall shared game-high rebounding honors.
Additional scorers for Lexington Christian in the victory were Grace Combs (five points), Jaylin McClanahan (four points) and Abby Wallen (one point).
Combs provided another strong inside presence for the Lady Eagles, securing eight rebounds of her own.
McCreary Central shot 31.9 percent (15-of-47) from the field. The Lady Raiders were 7-of-24 (29.2 percent) from 3-point range.
McCreary Central shot 69.2 percent (9-of-13) from the free throw line.
Allyson Anderson led McCreary Central with a game-high 19 points. Anderson was 4-of-5 at the free throw line in her team’s short effort.
Lauryn Phillips joined Anderson in double figures in the McCreary Central scoring column, posting 10 points.
Elizabeth Anderson almost notched a double-double and narrowly missed reaching double figures in scoring for the Lady Raiders, netting nine points and grabbing a team-high 10 rebounds.
Rounding out the McCreary Central individual scoring, Hannah Neal added six points and Julia King chopped in two points.
McCreary Central is scheduled to host Pulaski County on Saturday, Casey County on Monday, Feb. 12 and Rockcastle County on Tuesday. Feb. 13.
