West Jessamine ranked first in preseason 12th Region poll

LEXINGTON – Defending champion West Jessamine occupied the top spot in the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association Preseason 12th Region Top 5 Poll.
The poll was released on Thursday, Aug. 10 and features four longtime 12th Region leaders.

Southwestern is listed directly behind West Jessamine in second place.

Pulaski County – last season’s 12th Region runner-up – is ranked third in the preseason poll.

Rounding out the Preseason 12th Region Top 5, Boyle County and Wayne County are tied for fourth.

Coaches voted in the poll.

McCreary Central did not crack the preseason poll but is expected to show improvement early in the latest campaign.

Other top ranked teams from regions across the state are McCracken County (1st Region), Caldwell County (2nd Region, tied), Henderson County (2nd Region, tied), Apollo (3rd Region), Greenwood (4th Region), Central Hardin (5th Region), Mercy Academy (6th Region), Assumption (7th Region), North Oldham (8th Region, tied), Oldham County (8th Region, tied), Notre Dame (9th Region), Scott (10th Region), Henry Clay (11th Region), Whitley County (13th Region), Hazard (14th Region), Paintsville (15th Region) and Ashland Blazer (16th Region).

McCreary Central and other high school volleyball teams from throughout the state took the floor for season openers at the start of the week.
