USP McCreary inmate dies after attack

For the second time in three months officials at USP McCreary are investigating the death of an inmate inside the facility.
According to the Associated Press, who obtained information from the Fayette County Coroner’s Office, Donald John Post Sr., 69, of League City, Texas passed away last Wednesday from injuries sustained in an apparent assault in his cell.
Glen Post, Fayette County Coroner, stated the victim was first transported to a Tennessee hospital before being transferred to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
An autopsy was performed, but no information concerning the injuries or cause of death have been released.
A statement from the Darrell Lennon, Assistant/Camp Administrator at USP McCreary read: “On August 11, 2014, at approximately 5:15 p.m., staff found an inmate lying on his cell floor unresponsive. Staff administered CPR while a second inmate in the cell was escorted out of the area. Subsequently the unresponsive inmate was transported to a local hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead at 2:07 a.m. by hospital staff. The FBI was notified and an investigation continues. No staff or other inmates were injured.”
Post was serving a 40-year sentence on child-porn related charges.
The last reported death at the federal penitentiary came in May when an inmate died as a result of injuries received during an altercation with another inmate.
