Zelma Coffey, of Stearns, Kentucky departed this life at the Wayne County Hospital in Wayne County, Kentucky on August 28, 2014 being 75 years, 5 months and 4 days old. She was born in Slaven’s, Kentucky the daughter of the late Virgil and Irene (Koger) Jones. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lower Wolf Creek Baptist Church since 1955. She loved her church and spending time with family and friends; she enjoyed cooking, and many crafts such as quilting, gardening and antiquing. Along with her parents she is also preceded in death by; two Infant Sisters and one grandson Anthony Steward Jr. She is survived by her loving husband; Woodrow Coffey, whom she married November 26, 1955 in Jellico, Tennessee. Pairzida (Blevins) Jones, of Greensboro, North Carolina, Formally of McCreary County Kentucky departed this life August 22, 2014 being 89 years, 1 month and 2 days old at Brighton Gardens Nursing Home in Greensboro, North Carolina, She was born on July 20, 1925 Daughter of the late Maynard & Rosetta (smith) Jones. She was married to the late James Edmond Jones. She retired from the US Government where she worked on the Manhattan project, building and developing the atomic bomb. Along with her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband; two brothers; Laccie Blevins and Amon Blevins. She is survived by her daughters; Lynda Hisle of Orlando Florida and Darlene Jones of North Carolina, one sister; Irene Crane and one brother; Conley Blevins. Four Grandchildren; Rodney Hisle, Rachel Summers, Tad McFadden, and Amanda Millsap, also five great grandchildren; Lexton and Royce Millsap, Jordan and Jacob Summers, and Hannah Hisle. Graveside services were held Saturday August 30, 2014 at Lower Hickory Grove Cemetery with Rev. Eddie King Officiating. Kenneth Charles Murphy, age 67, of Stearns, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held at 1p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014, in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Coffey and Rev. Carl “Cubby” Clark officiating. Burial was at the Jones Cemetery in Strunk, Kentucky. Charles had been a coal miner for the Stearns Coal Company and was a member of the Lower Wolf Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Born March 3, 1947, in McCreary County, Kentucky, he was the son of Luster and Lora Mae (Miller) Murphy. He is preceded in death by his father, Luster Murphy, and two brothers; Joseph Murphy and James Murphy. Surviving family include his mother Lora Mae (Miller) Murphy, Pine Knot, a daughter; Kimberly Murphy (and Leslie Young) of Parkers Lake, two sons; Anthony (and Amanda) Murphy of Parkers Lake and Randall (and Melissa) Murphy of Stearns, and Brenda Murphy, the mother of his children as well as his caregiver. There are five sisters; Mary Burchfield and Carl, Muncie, Indiana, Wanda Worley and Danny, Revelo, Bonnie Bell and Curtis of Monticello, Brenda Taylor (and Daniel Stringer) of Somerset and Paula Crowley and Tony of Pine Knot. He has two surviving brothers; L.D. Murphy and Ruth Ann of Muncie, Indiana and Larry Murphy and Kim of Muncie as well as many nieces and nephews. Clarence L. (Penny) Perry of Whitley City, Kentucky departed this life at his home in Whitley City, Kentucky on August 24, 2014 being 66 years, 6 months, and 5 days old. He was born in Honey Bee, Kentucky the son of the late Alonzo and Rosa (Bryant) Perry. He was formerly Sheriff of McCreary County, of the Baptist Faith, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Kentucky Sheriff’s Association, enjoyed, playing music, family, friends, grandchildren, sports, and trading knives and guns. Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by his brothers; Carl Allen Perry and Clifford Leroy Perry; One sister; Marie Perry Gaddie. He is Survived by his loving wife; Jo Ann (Sellers) Perry of Whitely City, Kentucky; daughter, Carolyn Dixon and husband, Chad of Whitley City, Kentucky; step sons, Trent Kidd and wife, Toni, Rick Kidd and wife, Jewel, and Gary Kidd all of Pine Knot, Kentucky; Jeffrey Kidd and wife, Sharon of Strunk, Kentucky; brothers, Charles Bill Perry of Norwood, Ohio and Joseph Perry of Amelia, Ohio; grandchildren, Whitney Carson and husband, Kenny, and Jacob Dixon, and great grandchild, Kennedy Carson. Foist Perry age 81 of Whitley City, Kentucky, husband of Betty Perry passed away September 1, 2014 at the McCreary Health and Rehab Center in Pine Knot, Kentucky. Leroy Thompson, age 74, from Cincinnati, Oh. previously Strunk, Ky passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 26, 2014. Visitation and funeral services were held Sunday, August 31, 2014 Visitation 1-3 pm directly followed by the funeral service at McCreary County Funeral Home. Burial at Privett Cemetery. Leroy was born June 30, 1940, to the late Alex and Lora (Murphy) Thompson. Murton H. Wilson age 83 years, 9 months, and 30 days of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014 at his home. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 8:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Hap Strunk and Bro. Willis Troxell officiating. Burial services were held privately at the Murton Wilson Family Cemetery. He was born October 19, 1930 in Strunk, Kentucky to Murry Wilson and Mertie (Spradlin) Wilson. Murton was of the United Baptist faith. He was one of the first employees of the Pine Knot Job Corps when it opened and had worked there as a cook for over twenty five years when he retired. He enjoyed farming and raising big gardens and cattle. Murton also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, Mitchell, Mervin, and Marshall Wilson; and a sister, Cordelia Foster. Survivors include his wife, Georgie (Creekmore) Wilson, whom he married May 21, 1955; sons, Murton L. Wilson and wife, Phyllis, and Burton L. James Edward Moore, age 77, of Somerset, Kentucky, formerly of Winfield, Tennessee, passed from this life on Thursday, September 4, 2014, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 6, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Brian Crabtree officiating. He was laid to rest at the Crabtree Cemetery in Pine Knot.
James was born in McCreary County, Kentucky, on September 21, 1936, to the late Matt and Hazel (Spradlin) Moore. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by two step-sons; Anthony and Jason Crabtree, two brothers; George Moore, Oda Mike Moore, and three sisters-in-law; Lorene Moore, Eva Moore and Shirley Moore and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Duncan.
Surviving family include his wife Elizabeth (Crabtree) Moore whom he married April 18, 1998, of Somerset, two sons; James Eric (and Kimberli) Moore of Somerset and Timothy Moore of Pine Knot, two step-sons; Jody Crabtree and Wade (and Becky) Crabtree, both of Winfield, brothers; Lendle Moore and Arnold Moore both of Pine Knot and Ronald (and Anna) Moore of Lake City, Tennessee, and a sister; Martha (Moore) Duncan of Muncie, Indiana. He has two grandchildren; Ryan and Chloe and three step grandchildren; Lane, Conner and Beronica.
James was a boilermaker by trade and was a member of the Union 1 in Chicago, Illinois, He served his country in the US Army, he enjoyed traveling and was an avid UK basketball fan.

Foist Perry of Whitley City; Kentucky departed this life at the McCreary County Health and Rehab Center in Pine Knot, Kentucky on September 1, 2014 being 81 years, 8 months, 13 days old. He was born in McCreary County, Kentucky on December 19, 1932 the late son of Claymon and Allie (Bryant) Perry.
He was a carpenter and of the Baptist faith.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by two great grandchildren Abby Faith Wyatt and Sharada Leshea Douglas, and one sister; Sylvia Hinkle.
He is survived by his loving wife Betty Wyatt Perry; One daughter Angela Perry and husband Tim Lykins of Whitley City, Kentucky, One son; Ron Wyatt and Wife Rhonda Wyatt of Nancy, Kentucky, Two sisters; Helen and husband Bill Slaven of Whitley City, Kentucky, Clara Smith of Whitley City, Kentucky, one brother in law: Oscar Hinkle of Whitley City, Kentucky, nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Donald W. Phillips age 78 years, 4 months, and 15 days of Stearns, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014 at his home.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 7, 2014 at 3:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Sewell officiating. Burial followed in the Angel Cemetery with full military honors.
He was born April 20, 1936 in Paint Cliff, Kentucky to Thomas Phillips and Opal Marie (King) Phillips Prichard. Don was a member of the Lower Hickory Grove United Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam Era. Don was also a member of the Kinnie-Slaven Post of the American Legion Post 115. He worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for Tecumseh. After retirement, Don sold real estate and worked in the heating and air conditioning business. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and camping with his friends. Don also enjoyed attending car shows and spending time with his family.
Preceding him in death is his mother, his father who died when Don was an infant; his step-father, Carey Prichard, the only father Don ever knew; a brother, Gary Prichard, two sisters, Joyce Phillips and Betty Sue Dykes; and a son-in-law, Michael Todd Kidd.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley (Burke) Phillips whom he married, May 11, 1956; daughters, Donna Madden and her companion, Michael, of Oneida, Tennessee; and Traci Kidd of Whitley City, Kentucky; brothers, Wayne Prichard and his wife, Norma, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Ronnie Prichard and his wife, Kathy, of Somerset, Kentucky; and Bob Prichard and his wife, Chris, of Baltimore, Maryland; grandchildren, Lance, Gavin, and Nicholas Kidd, and Randi Creekmore; and great-grandchildren, Malachi Creekmore, Rhiannon Creekmore, and Stormie Goodin.

Wilber Wayne Marlow of Pine Knot, Kentucky departed this life at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky on September 10, 2014 being 83 years, 7 months, 2 days old. He was born in Oneida Tennessee, on February 8, 1931. The son of the late Luther and Macel (Bowlin) Marlow.
He was a Truck Driver for DRW Express. Wayne was of the Baptist faith and a member of Low Gap Baptist Church. He enjoyed truck driving and motorcycling on his Indian Motorcycle; He enjoyed good conversation and spending time with his family and friends, He was a very loving and giving person. Wayne was an Army Veteran, having obtained an honorable discharge during the Korean conflict.
Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by; one son Odell Bradley, One daughter; Jessica Lynch, five brothers; Guy Marlow, Gene Marlow, Raymond Marlow, Junior Marlow, and James Marlow. One sister Ruth

He was a former Forklift Driver at Pine Knot Lumber Company.

Ethelene had been a welder at Crown Products in Indiana and a member of Baptist Ross Church. She enjoyed family, grandchildren, and friends. Ethelene enjoyed quilting and always wanted to give God Praise.
Born October 21, 1933 in Revelo, Kentucky, Ethelene was the daughter of the late Maynard and Delia (Crabtree) Wilson. She is preceded in death by her father and mother Maynard and Delia Wilson and her daughter Wanda Faye Ross, and three brothers; Edward Wilson, Charles Wilson, Solomon Wilson, and also a sister; Inus Wilson.
Surviving family includes her three sons; Ronald Ross of Monticello, Randy Ross and Shirley of Danville, Indiana, Tilden Ross of Stearns, Kentucky. and a brother James Wilson of Indianapolis, Indiana. and a sister Beulah Wilson of Beach Grove, Indiana.
Ethelene has nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Lowell Walter Wright, age 68, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at the Continue Care Hospital in Corbin, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Peters and Bro. Dillard Clark officiating. Burial was at the Upper Cal Hill Cemetery.
Lowell was born December 7, 1945 in McCreary County, Kentucky, to Arville and Edna (Stephens) Wright. He is preceded in death by his father, Arville Wright and four infant brothers.
Surviving family include his mother Edna Wright of Pine Knot, his fiancé Wilma Wright of Pine Knot, a son Micheal (and Lynn) Wright, of Pine Knot, two daughters; Aretha Wright (and Steven Miller) of Somerset and Sandra (and Hank) Kidd, Pine Knot, a sister Sheila (and Brad) Hill, of Pine Knot, and two brothers; Nathan (and Della) Wright, Pine Knot and George (and Moony) Wright of Hazard, Kentucky. There are nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Lowell had been a coal miner for Blue Diamond Coal Company; he had been a truck driver and had worked for Kroger Frozen Meats. He had also worked at American Roller Company in Ohio. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Kinne Slaven Post 115 of the American Legion. He was a member of Marsh Creek Baptist Church and his passion was going to church when he was able. Before his illness, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Carolyn Faye Godsey, of Stearns, Kentucky, departed this life at the Jean Waddle Care Center of Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, on September 17, 2014 being 71 years, 4 months, 11 days old. She was born in Marshes Siding, Kentucky on May 6, 1943 the daughter of the late Oscar and Edith (Davis) Ross.
Carolyn was a bus driver for the McCreary County Board of Education; she was of the Baptist faith and a member of the East Stearns Church of God. She loved to cook, make flower arrangements, spend time with family and friends and loved to spoil her great great niece and nephew; big fan of UK Basketball and WWE Wrestling.

She is survived by her son Melvin Allen Godsey of Stearns, Kentucky, A niece whom was like a daughter to her; Sheila and James Terry of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, two brothers; Donald Ross of Stearns, Kentucky, and Newman Ross of Ohio, A host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

James “Jamie” Albert Higginbotham, of Whitley City, Kentucky, departed this life at the University Of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky, on September 16, 2014 being 41 years, 3 months, 19 days old. He was born in Hamilton County, Ohio on May 28, 1973 son of the late Albert and Alma (Ridner) Higginbotham.
Jamie was the McCreary County Constable in district one; He was of the Baptist faith; He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his free time, Jamie enjoyed trading on anything of value. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Jamie is survived by his wife; Kimberly (Tucker) Higginbotham, three sons; Tyler, Zachary, and Keaton Higginbotham of Whitley City, Kentucky, Three daughters; Deanna and Matthew Hurd of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, Nakayla and Aireonna Higginbotham of Whitley City, Kentucky, two brothers; Johnny and Teresa Higginbotham of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, Tim and Cindy Higginbotham of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, two sisters; Janice and Randell Perry of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, Brenda and Jr. Swain of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, Two Grandchildren Kinley and Hunter Hurd.

Ms. Carrie B. Kelly, age 75, of Stearns, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014, at the Pioneer Community Hospital in Oneida, Tennessee.
Ms. Kelly was a retired seamstress from General Motors in Livonia, Michigan.
She was born February 10, 1039, to Virgil Kidd and Mildred (Stephens) Feria. She is preceded in death by her father, Virgil Kidd, her mother and step-father; Mildred and Alex Feria, two brothers; Harold Dean Kidd and James Paul Kidd, and a sister; Barbara Pastor.
Surviving family include a son Donald Wayne (and Kay) Ball of Corbin, Kentucky, and a daughter; Brenda Ball of Milford, Michigan, a sister; Alice Faye Croft of St. George,
Utah and a brother Robert Christoffel Kidd of Brodhead, Kentucky. Grandchildren are Justin Lee Ball (and Misty) of Corbin, Jason Dwayne Ball (and Rebecca) of Corbin and Brandon Keith Ball (and fiance Haley Murphy) of Englewood, Florida. Great grandchildren are Brookelyn Elizabeth, Braiden Ryan, Noah Issaiah, Natalie Elizabeth, Kennedy Elyse and Savannah Grace.

Ms. Glenna E. Kidd, age 82, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.
Glenna had been a supervisor at Outdoor Venture Corporation in Stearns. She started work from the company’s inception in 1972 until her retirement some twenty one years later. She belonged to the McCreary County Homemakers Club in earlier years. She was a member of the Sulphur Springs United Baptist Church where she was church secretary/ treasurer and song leader. She was a devoted mother who loved cooking and caring for her family. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting special keepsakes for her family.
Glenna was born December 19, 1931, in Pine Knot, Kentucky, to the late John K. and Otie (Ball) Martin. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years whom she married December 23, 1952, Elves Dean Kidd, a sister; Gladys Lay and an infant brother; Ralph Martin.
Surviving family include her children: Deborah Elaine Kidd, Richmond, Kentucky, Patricia Ann (and Schyler) Jones, Pine Knot, and Earl Dean (and Amanda) Kidd, Pine Knot, Grandchildren; Chris Stephens, Eric Stephens, Mark Jones, Aaron Jones, Brandi Kidd, April Stephens, Jesse Dean Kidd, Skyler New and Michael Helton. Great grandchildren are Eli, Emry and Holden Jones, Jerika and Allyson Tucker and Caydon Stephens. She has a sister Carol Kidd who resides in Pine Knot as well as other family, friends and in-laws and will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 21, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Hilton Duncan and Chris Stephens officiating. Interment was at the T. Chitwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Chris Stephens, Gordon Kidd, Jeff Kidd, Brandi Kidd, Aaron Jones, April Stephens, Mark Jones.

Lora Alice (Jones) Maxwell, Age 94 years, 4 months, 30 days, of Whitley City, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Baptist Regional Hospital Corbin Kentucky; she was born to the late Rev. G.P. Gilson Jones and Rachel Elizabeth Worley Jones on April 19, 1920 at Ritner Kentucky.
Lora’s final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some large or small way throughout her long blessed life; she went to sleep here and awoke in the presents of Jesus.
Lora is survived by children; Leonard Maxwell of Elkhart, Indiana, Irene Maxwell Strunk, and (Lewis Ed Strunk) of Whitley City, Kentucky, Lenville Maxwell and (Brenda Maxwell) of Whitley City, Kentucky, Jackie Maxwell Strunk and (Larry Strunk) of Revelo, Kentucky, Donna Maxwell of Lexington, Kentucky, Sister; Nina Cotterman of Sidney, Ohio, Sister- in-law; Vivian Maxwell, Grandchildren; Kimberly Miller, Greg Maxwell, Eddie Strunk, Timothy Maxwell, Sherrie Sewell, Michael Strunk, Samantha Craig, Jonathan Strunk, Sarah Maxwell Sammons, Amanda Maxwell Marlow, Christopher Maxwell, Melissa Maxwell, James Derek Sumner, Rachel Chitwood, Tyler Vanover, DeDee Vanover, and twenty-two great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Lora is preceded in death by her husband Marvin C. Maxwell, Children Boyce Dean Maxwell, James E. Maxwell, Billy E.Maxwell, Harold R. Lora was a member of Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church, where she was loved by all. She loved her church and all who attended church with her. Many of her Sunday school sisters in the lord she would often mention. Her last wish was made known shortly before her going to sleep to her pastor, Danny Staley, that she wanted him on her funeral; she also loved Roger Bryant who will also be conducting her funeral, Lora would say “Let’s Smile and Have Church”. Lora loved to cook for her family and could make the best blackberry cobbler among her many specialties. Lora has passed into her eternal life that God promised to all who would believe on his only begotten son and will be sadly missed here by her family and many friends old and young alike.

William “Bill” Ellis Roberts age 72 years, 6 months, and 5 days, of Robbins, Tennessee, formerly of Stearns, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie King officiating. Burial followed in the Hickman Cemetery.
He was born March 10, 1942 in Worley Hill Top, Kentucky to Kenneth Theodore Roberts and Edna Mae (Waters) Roberts. Bill was a member of the First Hickory Grove Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the VFW. Bill was well known for his carpet cleaning skills.
Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, Sandra (Ramsey) Roberts; a brother, Jimmy Roberts; and sisters, Ruth Ann Young and Mary Lou Jones.
Survivors include his sons, William E. “Scotty” Roberts, Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, and Michael Roberts and wife, Elizabeth, of Sunbright, Tennessee; daughters, Tami Layne and husband, Jeff, of Robbins, Tennessee, and Teri Roberts of Whitley City, Kentucky; a brother, Frank Roberts and wife, Linda, of Louisville, Kentucky; sisters, Jewel Stephens and husband, Vernon, of Williamsburg, Kentucky, and Wilma Jones, of Stearns, Kentucky; grandchildren, Tabitha, Shawn, Jonathan, Cody, Cole, Austin, and Wyatt; and great-grandchildren, Sophia and Layla.

Brenda Kay Trammell, 62, of Junction City, KY passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Christian Care Center in Lancaster, KY. Born October 18, 1951 in Oneida, TN to the late Robert and Sarah Bryant Koon, she was a former employee of Hub Frankel and Cowden’s Inc. She was a volunteer caregiver for Bluegrass Community Action and a volunteer for Feed The Hungry. She was also a member of Worldstown Church of God.
Survivors include her husband: Hubert Trammell Sr. of Stanford, KY, one son: Hubie Trammell of Moreland, KY, one daughter: Paula Anness of Hustonville, KY, two brothers: Ronnie Koon of Junction City, KY, and Tony Bryant (Anna) of Stanford, KY, two sisters: Ann Strunk of Strunk, KY, and Wilma Miller (Charlie) of Pine Knott, KY, three grandchildren: Brittany Eades (David) of Fort Myers, FL, Anthony Anness, and Rachel Anness both of Hustonville, KY, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother: J.C. Koon.

William Charles West, of Pine Knot, Kentucky departed this life Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, In Somerset Kentucky being 73 years, 9 months, 29 days old. He was born in Pine Knot, Kentucky on October 19, 1940 the son of the late Allen and Rachel (Hill) West.
Charles was a logger and self employed; he loved fishing and spending time with his animals. Some of Charles favorite music was country and gospel.
He is survived by his loving wife; Mildred West, whom he married June 14, 1971 in Pine Knot, Kentucky, one brother; Carl and Betty West of Pine Knot, Kentucky, one sister; Betty Lou Whallen of Strunk, Kentucky.
