Ridner to fill ballot

By: Greg Bird

Primary Election runner-up Dustin Ridner has been selected by the McCreary County Republican Party to appear on the ballot this fall in the stead of Jamie Higgenbotham, who passed away last week.

Ridner, who fell 17-votes short of winning the Primary in May, will appear as the Republican District 1 Constable candidate in the November 4 General Election, replacing Higgenbotham, facing off against Democrat Bill Hayes.

Due to the timing of the change, County Judge-Executive Doug Stephens will not appoint a replacement for Constable Higgenbotham to fill out the term. Instead, the winner of the General Election will sworn in on November 5 to begin the term.

County Clerk Eric Haynes stated Ridner’s name will appear on the regular ballots, but not on the early-voting ballots, which already have been printed.
