Round Up – Part 2
By: Greg Bird
10 more suspects were arrested Wednesday as local law enforcement officers conducted a second multi-agency round-up, targeting suspected drug dealers.
Warrants were sought for the suspects as a result of ongoing drug investigations between the Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police and the Lake Cumberland Area Drug Task Force.
The warrants were obtained as a result of undercover drug investigations and buys from confidential informants.
“We are continuing the fight against drugs in McCreary County,” Sheriff Gus Skinner said. “All of the agencies are working together and pooling their information and resources to make these arrests and prosecute them.”
Last week 12 people were arrested as part of the first round-up, with additional arrests made throughout the course of the day.
Among those arrested this week were: Roy Hines, of Stearns, charged with one count of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance First Degree – First offense (Oxycodone).
Sandy E. Jones, of Marshes Siding, charged with two counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance Second Degree – First offense (Buprenorphine).
Larry G. Sammons, of Whitley City, charged with two counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance Second Degree – First offense (Buprenorphine).
Michael Soard, of Stearns, charged with two counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance Second Degree – First offense (Hydrocodone).

Gary L. Tucker, of Revelo, charged with two counts of Trafficking Marijuana Under 5 Pounds.
Lyle C. “Deuce” McDonald, of Pine Knot, charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance First Degree, Second Offense (Oxycodone).
Gorman Watson, of Stearns, charged with one count of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance First Degree – First offense (Oxycodone).
Sheriff Skinner stated the reasoning behind conducting the round-ups on multiple dates was to alleviate the burden on county resources, namely the Transportation Officers who transported the prisoners to Jail facilities in other counties. Participating in the round up Wednesday were Sheriff Skinner, Detective David Sampson, Kentucky State Police Detective Billy Correll, Trooper Craig Reed, Trooper Willie Cowan, Trooper Matt Ridner, KSP DESI East Officer Jason Browning, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Lieutenant Stuart Bryant, and Lake Cumberland Area Drug Task Force Officers Robbie Clark and Mike Walters.
