More write ins enter races

By: Greg Bird

County Clerk Eric Haynes reports that over the past week, three more write-in candidates have filed for the 2014 General Election on November 4.

Jeff Tucker and Tim Higgenbotham filed as write-in candidates for the District 1 Constable race.

Dustin Ridner was recently selected by the McCreary County Republican Party to be on the ballot in the stead of Jamie Higgenbotham, who won the Primary election, but passed away last month.

Ridner finished 17 votes behind Higgenbotham in the race. Tucker finished third in the spring Primary, collecting 150 votes, or 19 percent of the vote.

Danny Lee Crabtree, who ran for the Republican nomination for Sheriff in the Primary Election, has filed his intent to run as a write-in candidate for that office as well.

Crabtree finished fourth in the Sheriff’s race, collecting 106 votes, or three percent of the vote.

Any potential write-in candidate has until October 15 to file with the Clerk’s Office to be considered in the vote.
