Occupational Tax receipts released

By: Greg Bird

Figures released by the McCreary County Occupational Tax Office Tuesday show a decline in collection, typical for the final month in a quarter of reporting.

In total only $6,059.02 was brought in by the tax in September, with $3,033.61 being transferred into the General Fund after salaries and expenses were deducted.

Typically, every third month of collections shows a marked decline as some businesses wait until the end of the month to report their quarterly earnings. Those numbers are reported with the following month’s receipts.

For the first three months of the current fiscal year a total of $190,218.47 has been allocated to the General Fund from the Occupational Tax, about $6,000 ahead of the same three-month period over the past two years.
