- Kyle Tucker goes to the basket in the Raiders’ opening round loss to Greenup County in the Arby’s/KFC Holiday Classic.
The 2014-15 version of the McCreary Central Raiders are already a vastly improved team over last year’s squad which only won one game. But so far the home crowd has yet to see them win.
With 15 games under their belts already this season, the Raiders have compiled a 7-8 record, but all their wins have come on the road.
After a disappointing showing at their own Christmas tournament, the Arby’s/KFC Holiday Classic, where McCreary finished 0-4, the Raiders rebounded with back-to-back wins in another tournament.
Playing twice on Monday in the Jim Hurst Holiday Classic in Trimble County, the Raiders powered through the tough schedule with an 82-74 win over Eminence and a 67-65 win over Walden in the same day. (The Raiders’ game against Lyon County on Tuesday was not completed before press time.)
McCreary returns home Friday as part of a Girls/Boys doubleheader against Cumberland County. The Lady Raiders will tip-off the action at 6:00, followed by the Raiders at 7:30.
Next Thursday McCreary will face one of their biggest challenges this season when they play their first District game against Southwestern. Through Monday the Warriors were tied with Lincoln County for the 12th Region’s best record, 11-1. The game will be at Southwestern, with tip-off scheduled for 7:30.
