Law enforcement has busy weekend

While many McCreary Countians spent the holiday weekend enjoying their time off, local law enforcement spent the three days patrolling the roads and keeping the county safe.

McCreary County Sheriff Randy Waters stated his office and other local law enforcement officers responded to over 30 calls on Saturday alone and over 50 for the Memorial Day weekend. Officers were participating in a Click it or Ticket campaign for highway safety as well.

While no major incidents were reported over the weekend, deputies did issue several citations for public intoxication and DUI, as well as answer several complaints ranging from fights to reckless drivers to pit bulls attacking a horse.

“We worked hard over the holiday weekend to ensure McCreary County had a safe Memorial Day,” Sheriff Waters said. “In addition to increasing our presence throughout the county, we participated with other law enforcement agencies in Click it or Ticket, targeting unsafe driving and enforcing seat belt laws.”
