Where’s the Beef?
The McCreary County Cattleman’s Association, Inc. is being well received in McCreary County. Recently formed, the local association already has twenty-two members with more expected to join. With officers Marion Gilreath, Jerry Trammell, and Jason Stephens presiding, the group met recently to discuss by-laws and other business. The group formed, with the assistance of County Extension Agent Greg Whitis, when some local cattlemen who were attending cattle industry educational classes decided to initiate a McCreary County Association instead of belonging to groups in other counties.
The Cattleman’s Association hopes to bring together all those in McCreary County and surrounding areas that are interested in the cattle industry. The local Association will emphasize educational programs, promotion of the cattle industry, and working with local government and other agencies to promote the cattle industry and provide leadership. The Association will have three regular meetings a year and one annual meeting. The next meeting is scheduled for July 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the McCreary Center of Somerset Community College in Whitley City. Everyone interested in the cattle industry is invited to attend.
