Snack Time

A young, McCreary County superhero, pictured righte, showed his excitement about the snack he and others received during a recent “superheroes” event held at the McCreary County Public Library as part of the summer reading program.                                                                                             The snacks, provided by God’s Pantry Food Bank, are part of an effort to fight hunger in McCreary County this summer by providing snacks for children at the Library and through the Bookmobile.  Snacks will be provided at the McCreary County Public Library through July 31 on Mondays and Thursdays from 5:00-7:00 p.m., on Wednesdays from 10:00-11:30 a.m., and on Fridays from 1:30-3:30 p.m.  The snacks are served in conjunction with fun and educational activities provided for all local children by the library staff. The McCreary County Mobile Outreach is based through the McCreary County Bookmobile during educational programs offered to children via the bookmobile at the Landing Apartments on Old Bailey Road and the Housing Authority of McCreary County on East Highway 2792 in Pine Knot.  Snacks, as part of the programs for children, will be served on July 14, 21, and 28 from 1:00-1:45 p.m. at the Landing Apartments.  Snacks and programming will be provided at the Housing Authority in Pine Knot from 1:00-1:45 p.m. on July 16, 23, and 30.

God’s Pantry Food Bank, in partnering with the Public Library, seeks to address the gap in food created for many children during summer months when free and reduced price meals are not available through the schools.
