Two McCreary County natives injured in Somerset accident

11751767_844001835654204_7500369983563037907_nTwo McCreary County natives were injured in a Pulaski County accident Saturday night after the motorcycle they were riding on was struck from behind by a drunk driver.

According to the Somerset Police Department, Damon “Storm” Stephens, 22, and Courtney Dixon, 19, were on a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle in the northbound lane of U.S. 27 in front of the Center for Rural Development, when it was struck by a 1999 Dodge pickup, driven by Amber N. Scales, 35, of Somerset around 9:18 p.m.

The impact caused the motorbike to move forward and strike a 2010 Nissan Altima, driven by Sarah Lucas, 30, of Liberty.

Stephens was transported to the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, while Dixon was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Neither Scales or her passenger were injured in the collision, nor were the driver and passengers in the third vehicle involved.

Scales was arrested and charged with DUI 1st Offense, Operating on a Suspended Operator’s License, four counts of Wanton Endangerment First Degree, and one count of Assault Second Degree
