It was a decision that wasn’t easy to make, but McCreary Central Senior Kaylee Cotton has decided where she intends to continue her basketball career after graduation.

This week the Lady Raiders’ all-time leading scorer verbally committed to Lipscomb University, a private college in Nashville, Tennessee – not far from her hometown in Stearns.

After being heavily recruited by several colleges and universities, Cotton said she took many factors into her choice on where to continue her education and join the Bison basketball program.

“I know this decision will completely dictate my future, not only in basketball but also in life,” she said. “The Coaches at Lipscomb are absolutely the greatest people with the biggest hearts. I know that they will push me daily to become the best player I can possibly be.”

After an official visit to the school, Cotton said she fell in love with the modest campus and felt like part of the community.

“The team members were so welcoming and loving on my official visit, many of them even prayed with me about my decision,” she said. “My faith has also been a huge part in this decision. I have prayed daily asking for guidance and clarity and I am very certain I received it.”

“Not only is Lipscomb a great athletic fit for me but also a great ethical fit. They love the lord and are proud to serve him daily. I truly am blessed to be able to be a part of a program with such ethics and morals.”

“I couldn’t of done any of this with out the support of our beautiful little community.”

Lipscomb University has an enrollment of nearly 4,500, is a NCAA Division I school and a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference.

Now all that remains is for the young woman to enjoy her senior year and help bring the Lady Raiders a District Championship.
