U.S. Army War College Graduate


Army Col. Michael W. Stephens has graduated from the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Carlisle, Pa., and earned a master’s degree in strategic studies. The college is the Army’s senior educational institution.

The 24-month curriculum of the Army’s senior officer school is designed to prepare and train officers of all the U.S. military branches of service, foreign military officers, as well as senior civilian officials of federal agencies, to serve in top-level command and staff positions with the U.S. Armed Forces worldwide.

Stephens is a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter pilot and currently the Commander of the 63rd Theater Aviation Brigade, Kentucky National Guard, Frankfort, Ky. He has served in the Active U.S. Army and Active National Guard for 26 years.

He is the son of Brent and Mary Ruth Stephens of Whitley City, Ky., and is the brother of Elizabeth Ubelhor, Rebekah Terry, and Susan Stephens.

He is a 1987 graduate of McCreary Central High School and holds a Bachelor of Science in Police Administration from Eastern Kentucky University, Richmond, Ky., and a Master of Divinity degree in Pastoral Counseling from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky.
