Fall Festival and Chili Cook-off planned Sept. 12 at Possom Trot

Possom Trot

Calling all chili makers! In just two weeks, the Big South Fork Saddle Club (BSFSC) Fall Festival and Chili Cook-off will kick off the start of Scott County’s next beautiful season with a family-friendly fundraiser. Hosted by the exciting Wild West compound of Possom Trot, the BSFSC event is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 12. Possom Trot is located at 517 Adkins Trail, Winfield.

Activities include wagon rides, face painting, an inflatable bounce house and inflatable obstacle course, caramel apples, corn hole, horseshoes, an on-site miniature donkey, a dunk tank featuring locals whom you can pay to dunk, and a chili cook-off.

Tasty and mild or tire-kicking hot, the chili cook-off starts at 11 a.m., with judging at 2 p.m. by a three-judge panel consisting of Steve Salter, Rhonda Brooks and Johnny Warner. The grand prize winner receives a two-night stay in the two-room, one and a half bath Possum Trot apartment on the premises of the old cowboy town. The prize also includes a shooting range adventure, as well as access to the coolest saloon ever, grills, fire pits and horseshoes.

For rules and to sign up for the chili cook-off, contact Kim Harmon or Steve Salter at 423-286-3902 by Sept. 10.

Children and adults can get their faces painted by Brooke Miller. Big South Fork Outdoor Adventures is providing inflatables, a dunk tank, and wagon rides; and the Big South Fork Saddle Club is providing caramel apples and a miniature donkey.

Admission is $5 for adults, student rate of $3 and children under 12 are free.
