Cemetery Walk

The third annual Cemetery Walk sponsored by the McCreary County Historical & Genealogical Society and McCreary County Public Library saw a large turn-out of individuals interested in learning more about the history of McCreary County.  This year’s walk took place at Holloway Cemetery in Whitley City.  Legend has it that the Holloway Cemetery was named after Middleton B. Holloway, the first person buried there on February 19, 1899.  Pictured  are Sandra Jones as she listens intently to the life history of William J. Ward,  Dana West as she shares the local history of the Perkins family, and Sam Perry sharing the history (along with photographs) of his ancestors buried in the Holloway Cemetery.
