Drug trafficking, 2 arrested
According to Deputy Odell Smith, he initiated a traffic stop on a red Chevy S10 pickup around 9:10 a.m. Wednesday morning on the Job Corps Road after witnessing traffic violations.
As the vehicle came to a stop, Deputy Smith witnessed the occupants throwing what appeared to be small baggies from the vehicle’s windows. The officer called for back-up and placed the suspects in to custody.
School Resource Officer Phillip Hayes, Trooper Craig Reed, Sheriff Randy Waters, and Deputies Tom Smith and Charles Perry responded to the scene, and were able to recover the suspected contraband, believed to be methamphetamine. Several baggies were recovered, both from within the vehicle and outside, containing approximately 6.7 grams of meth, along with drug paraphernalia and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Arrested were Tex Monroe and Larry Myers on trafficking, possession and traffic-related offenses.
The case will likely be presented to the McCreary County Grand Jury for possible indictments.
