Beaver Creek Quota Hunt Draws in 152 Hunters
On Friday, more than one hundred, fifty hunters checked in at headquarters in preparation for the two day quota deer hunt at the Beaver Creek Wildlife Management Area located in northern McCreary County and southern Pulaski County. The annual event is the only time hunters with guns may pursue deer in the sprawling wildlife area. A total of six bucks, including a piebald, were harvested during the event. Piebald deer have brown and white markings, similar to a pinto pony, The rare coloring occurs due to a genetic defect and usually affects less than one percent of the deer population.
