RUCK FOR THE CORPS

Photos submitted

On November 10, 2015 (the Marine Corps Birthday), members of the Veteran owned and operated “Adversity Training Center” ran a 20 mile “RUCK FOR THE CORPS” to bring attention to the growing tragedy of soldiers with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It was also to honor Veteran’s Day. The run began on Highway 27, at the McCreary County / Pulaski County line and ended at the Pulaski County Justice Center. Some of the runners ran the entire 20 miles in full ruck pack while proudly carrying the American Flag and the USMC Flag. Shocking PTSD, suicide rates for vets – 1 in 5 veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars are diagnosed with PTSD. At least 22 veterans commit suicide every day. The names of the runners and their support group are as follows: William Ewers, Former USMC, Ian Lawler, Former Navy Corpsman Assigned to USMC, Danielle Lawler, Pulaski Co Student and ATC student, Chris Espinoza Active Duty Army Ft. Campbell, Justin Yazza, Former Army Infantry & Service Dog Crash, Vince Langdon. Support: Darlene Price, U.S. Army Veteran, Brian New, Maris Oshaunessy, Grace Oshaunessy and Aislin Oshaunessy.
