Biography of Justus S. Stearns Published

Mr. Michael Nagle, author of the newly released book entitled “Justus S. Stearns, Michigan Pine King and Kentucky Coal Barron 1845-1933,” appeared at the Stearns Depot on Sunday, November 15 for a discussion and book signing.  The biography addresses the key events in the first few decades of Justus S. Stearns, the namesake of Stearns, Kentucky, and explores his initial foray into the lumber industry.  Although Justus S. Stearns lived in Michigan and was an absentee owner of the Stearns Coal and Lumber Town when it was established, he was heavily engaged in the day-to-day activities.

The book signing event was sponsored by the National Park Service, McCreary County Museum, and Whistle Stop Café.  Books may be purchased at the McCreary County Museum.
