Kidd Named to Superintendent Selection Committee

Acting on a motion made by Debra Gibson, the McCreary County Board of Education voted to appoint Board Chair Brandon Kidd to the Superintendent Selection Committee.  Kidd abstained from the vote while all of the remaining board members, with the exception of Roxanne Shook, voted in favor of Kidd’s placement on the committee.  The formation of a Superintendent Selection Committee is required by law and is charged with advising the Board on their selection of a superintendent for the McCreary County School District.  State law requires that the selection committee must have one principal, two teachers, one board member, one parent, and one classified employee.

Other members of the committee will be nominated by their peers in the respective groups and voted to the committee in the coming weeks.

In other business, the board approved measures necessary to continue with the McCreary Softball and Baseball Fieldhouse Projects and the McCreary County Middle School Roof Replacement Project.  The Board also voted to create one part-time custodian and part-time grounds keeper located Districtwide and at Central Office and one instructional assistant for McCreary Preschool located at Whitley City Elementary School.

With Board Member Shook voting no, the Board approved the Independent Contractor Agreement for the Director of Districtwide Services.  Additionally, the Board unanimously approved several field trips, and school fundraisers as well as accepting the audit report for the year ending June 2015.

The next meetings of the McCreary County Board of Education will be a special called meeting on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. and a regular meeting on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at the Board’s Central Office.
