Led by Devin Strunk’s 20 points, the Raiders ended a three-game skid with a 77-67 win over the Burgin Bulldogs at Pulaski County Monday night.
The Raiders led throughout, leading by 10 at the half, and coasting to the end for their second win of the season.
McCreary shot 44 percent from the floor, and 82 percent from the free throw line in the contest. More telling is the domination off the boards for the Raiders. McCreary pulled down 44 rebounds, 18 on offense and scored 24 second-chance points in the win.
Three Raiders finished in double digits: Stunk (20), Devin Hamilton (15) and Hunter Jones (14). Rounding out the scoring were Cole Kidd -9, John Cash -5, Nick Longmire -4, Codey Phillips -4, Tristan Adkins -2, Caleb Dixon -2, and Brandon Troxell -2.
The win comes on the heels of a disappointing 84-55 loss to Danville last Friday night.
The Raiders shot only 34 percent from the floor, while the Admirals hit 50 percent as their size and speed kept McCreary out of rhythm all game. The Admirals forced 16 turnovers, and turned those into 15 points.
McCreary was led by Hunter Jones with 15 points followed by: Cole Kidd -11, Devin Hamilton -9, Caleb Dixon -4, John Cash -4, Nick Longmire -4, Devin Strunk -3, Brandon Troxell -3, Tristan Adkins -1, and Codey Phillips -1.
McCreary’s record stands at 2-4.
The Raiders travel to Somerset tonight, and will host the Arby’s/KFC Holiday Classic over the weekend.
After the Christmas break the Raiders return to action on January 2 when they travel to Cumberland County. Their next home game will be on January 7 when they host Southwestern.
