Dangerous road conditions
Rapidly worsening road conditions were to blame for two Monday afternoon accidents in McCreary County. The first involved an armored truck on East Highway 700. The driver of the truck attempted to negotiate a curve, but lost control of the vehicle on the slick roads, left the roadway, struck a ditch and turned on its side. Neither the driver nor passenger in the vehicle were injured. The second occurred around 3:30 p.m. in downtown Stearns. Deputy Jerry Meadows reports a Ford, driven by Allen Ball, was struck when a second vehicle, driven by Craig Ellis, was rounding the southbound curve on Hwy. 1651 and lost control on the icy roads. Ellis and a passenger in Ball’s vehicle were transported by McCreary County EMS for medical attention.
