Led by Devin Strunk and Cole Kidd who combined for 30 points and 20 rebounds, the Raiders knocked off Clinton County 63-47 in the Don Marshal Ram E Classic at Pulaski County Saturday.
It was the inside game that led the Raiders to victory as all but three of McCreary’s baskets came from with inside the paint. The Raider’s offense owned the lane against Clinton County, as did the defense.
McCreary outscored Clinton County 37-16 in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, with only four baskets from the Bulldogs over that span.
The Raiders trailed 15-13 at the end of the first quarter, but quickly settled in and took control of the game.
McCreary only shot 40 percent (20-50) from the floor, but helped themselves in other areas. The defense held Clinton to only 27 percent (14-51) for the entire game, and the Raiders shot 90 percent (20-22) from the free throw line to help solidify the win. Additionally, the Raiders only committed eight turnovers over the course of the game while forcing 12.
With the win the Raiders’ record improved to 8-13.
Monday’s game at Lincoln County was cancelled due to weather. The Raiders have only three games remaining: Friday at East Jessamine, next Monday at Oneida Baptist Institute and next Friday at Whitley County.
