Two Raider wrestlers qualify for State

McCreary Central’s Nathan Prosser and Ryan Strunk will represent the Raiders this weekend at the Kentucky High School Athletic Association State Wrestling Tournament in Lexington.

Prosser (44-4) placed second in the 7th Region Wrestling Tournament at Boyle County this past weekend, falling to Christopher Morrow of Madison Central in the championship bout in the 170-pound class.

Strunk (31-8) finished fourth, dropping his final match to Henry Clay’s Christian Shelby in the 152-pound class.

This marks the second time Prosser, a Sophomore, and Strunk, a Junior, have qualified for the State Tournament, with both advancing last year.

Connor Ball (182-lbs) qualified as an alternate for the team thanks to his fifth-place finish in the Region.

Seth Anderson (220-lbs) and Donovan Lay (160-lbs) placed sixth this past weekend, Braxton Newton (195-lbs) placed seventh, while Ruben Martinez (106-lbs), Luke Anderson (120-lbs) and Drew Bell (126-lbs) placed eighth.

The Raiders as a team finished ninth.
