Wrestlers represent in State Tourney
McCreary Central wrestlers Ryan Strunk and Nathan Prosser got off to a strong beginning in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association State Wrestling Tournament this past weekend, but ultimately did not advance past the second round.
Strunk, wrestling in the 152-pound class started the tournament on a high note, defeating Region 3 Champion Devaughn Richardson from Fern Creek with a 6-4 decision in the opening round.
But, in his second-round match against DuPont Manual’s Jacob Bratcher, Strunk was taken out via pin-fall.
In the second round of the consolation bracket Strunk’s Tournament run was ended with a pin-fall to Colin Stephens of Trigg County.
Prosser had a similar experience.
A first-round win via pin over Ashland’s Austin Scarberry propelled him forward, but lost a 6-2 decision to North Hardin’s Raymond Williams in the second round.
In the consolation bracket Prosser fell to a 6-2 decision to Santiago Dakota of Taylor County.
