“Plow Day” ushers in spring gardening season
With a chill still in the air, curious spectators and folks with teams of mules and horses gathered at Glenn West’s Coopersville (Wayne County) farm to plow the ground in preparation for spring planting. The annual gathering draws people from all around the state and is a favorite time of the year for many from McCreary and Wayne Counties. The teams of mules will be in action again later this year when they cut hay using old fashion mowing equipment at the reciprocal mowing event held annually at Kelly Tucker’s farm in McCreary County. Both “workings’ are followed by scrumptious meals featuring a wide variety of home-cooked food.
